Take a private tour in Burgundy for the day with your own driver guide.
Departing from your Paris hotel or apartment at 7 AM, you’ll drive to the ancient city of Beaune, the wine capital of Burgundy and a place with a splendid architectural heritage. In Beaune, you’ll visit the Hôtel-Dieu, a marvel of Burgundian-Flemish art. The medieval building, with its preserved décor and magnificently-colored glazed tiles, houses the famous polyptych of the Last Judgment. This masterpiece of Flemish art was done by Rogier van der Weyden.
You’ll visit the Patriarche wine cellars (or similar). These date back to the 13th-14th centuries and you’ll be able to taste a dozen different kinds of wine. If you’d prefer, you can do wine-tasting in the little town of Mersault. There you’ll discover the white wines with a taste of hazelnut — dry and mellow at the same time (and often considered to be among the best in the world).
You’ll have lunch in Pommard, a town forever linked with the tradition of wine-making! The village huddles tightly around the square bell-towered church. As Victor Hugo thought, we believe you’ll agree the wines are outstanding here.
You’ll have a private visit at a small wine-producer in Pommard (or on the Route des Grands Crus).
The private Burgundy tour will drive through the vineyards on the Great Vintage wines road that holds the illustrious names of the Burgundy wines and arrive at the Clos de Vougeot.
You’ll tour the historical Clos de Vougeot that was built by Cistercian monks in the 12th century. Surrounded by magnificent vineyards, it houses prestigious cellars and collections of winepresses from the Middle Ages.
You’ll return to Paris around 8 PM (just in time for dinner in Paris!).
