Giverny Private Tour PTH07

Monet's Home in Giverny from Back Gardens

Book a private tour to Giverny to see Claude Monet's home and gardens.

Your private Giverny tour will begin with a Paris hotel or apartment pickup. The private tour to Claude Monet's home in Giverny will take you to his gardens to see the water lilies.

The Giverny Japanese bridge and water lilies were subjects of so many of Claude Monet's paintings. Monet lived in the house from 1883 until he died in 1926. Though he never traveled to Japan, the house is full of Japanese woodblock prints.

Giverny GardensYou'll see flowerbeds that vary in heights and fullness. The fruit trees or ornamental trees stand over the climbing roses, the long-stemmed hollyhocks and the colored banks of annuals. Monet mixed simple flowers with the rare varieties that you'll see during your visit.

The center part of the garden is covered by green painted iron arches on which climbing roses grow. Other rose trees cover the railing along Monet's house. By the end of the summer the nasturtiums dominate the soil in the central alley. Claude Monet did not like organized nor constrained gardens. He arranged flowers according to their colors and left them to grow freely.

Giverny Lily PondAs you walk the gardens, you will visit the Lily Pond made famous in Monet's paintings. The lily pads are in Monet's water garden that was formed by a tributary to the Epte River. As you would expect, there are green painted foot bridges and the row boat so often painted by Monet.

The tour can also go to the Giverny Museum of Impressionism. It is located a few steps away from Monet's gardens. Hosted in a building harmoniously integrated with the landscape and surrounded by colorful gardens, the museum presents different exhibitions each year. Primarily dedicated to Impressionism, its purpose is to focus on the international dimension of the Impressionist movement. The Musée d’Orsay is one of the partners of this museum. The works on display in the Musée des Impressionnismes are loaned by some of the greatest public and private collections worldwide, including the Musée Marmottan in Paris.

The private tour to Giverny can be arranged any day from April through October as a morning or afternoon tour (5 hours).

Entrances and meals aren't included in the cost for a private tour.
