Edinburgh Private Tour ET

Edinburgh

Explore Edinburgh with your own personal tour guide. Your private tour of Edinburgh begins with a pickup at your Edinburgh hotel or flat.

Your Edinburgh tour day begins with a visit to Edinburgh Castle. The castle is situated on top of an extinct volcano. In the castle are the Scottish Crown Jewels, Royal Apartments, and Stone of Destiny. The Stone of Destiny is an oblong block of red sandstone, used for centuries in the coronation of the monarchs of Scotland, later the monarchs of England, and since 1603, British monarchs.

You will also visit the Palace of Holyroodhouse once home of Mary Queen of Scots and now the Queen's official residence in Scotland.

Edinburgh's Royal Mile is a densely populated avenue with historic buildings along cobbled streets. Daniel Defoe once described it as 'Perhaps the finest street not in Britain only but in the world'.

During this tour of Edinburgh, you will also visit Edinburgh's elegant Georgian New Town, with the National Gallery, Royal Scottish Academy and National Portrait Gallery, and John Knox's House. (John Knox is considered to be the founder of the Presbyterian denomination in Scotland.).

You will discover Princes Street that is Edinburgh's main thoroughfare, Princes Street Gardens dating back to the 1760's, and the Scott Monument commemorating one of Scotland's greatest literary figures, Sir Walter Scott.

The driver will take you back to your hotel at the end of the day tour.
